Afghan TV Journalist Malala Maiwand shot dead in Jalalabad

An Afghan Journalist and her driver were shot dead by unidentified men in Jalalabad, Afghanistan on Thursday, as per reports.

Enikaas TV news anchor and talk show host Malala Maiwand was shot and killed when unknown armed men attacked her vehicle in Arabano Golaye of Jalalabad on Thursday. As per reports, Malala Maiwand was on her way to work when she was attacked.

Zalmay Latifi, Head of the Channel, confirmed the incident while adding that not much information is available at the moment.

Taliban, meanwhile, said the group was not behind the assassination.

In wake of the killing of a Journalist, Afghan Independent Journalists Association (AIJA) urged Afghan security institutions to investigate the killing and share the findings with the media community.
