Besides China, talks with Pakistan too required: Farooq

New Delhi, 19-September-2020

National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has said that India should hold talks with Pakistan to resolve issues and end border skirmishes as people are dying every day.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Abdullah said, Like we are talking to China to resolve issues, we need to hold talks with the other neighbour country as well. People are dying every day; border skirmishes are on a rise. We need to find some solution.
The National Conference MP also said that no progress is taking place in Jammu & Kashmir after Article 370 was abrogated.
People there do not have access to the 4G facility, how are they going to grow in the present time when the rest of the country has access to every facility on the internet, he said.
Abdullah, who spoke during zero hour, thanked the members who had demanded his release from detention when he was detained along with other political leaders after the government scrapped Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir last year and bifurcated the state into two union territories.
The Srinagar MP also referred to reports that an inquiry by Army had found "prima face evidence" that the Armed Forces (Jammu and Kashmir) Special Powers Act was exceeded during an anti-terror operation in Shopian earlier this year and said that the government should provide a huge compensation in this case.
"The Army has agreed that the three persons who were killed in Shopian were killed by mistake and the government should provide a huge compensation in this case," he said.
Pakistan has increased shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu since the beginning of this year. The Centre told the Parliament this week that there have been 3,186 ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
