19 localities declared �red� in Jammu as Covid cases surge

Jammu, 31-August-2020

In view of surge in COVID-19 in various areas of Jammu city, the District Magistrate Jammu on Monday declared 19 localities as Red Zone. The localities Jhulaka Mohalla, Christian Colony , Jain Bazar, Bakshinagar, Resham Ghar, New Plots, Rehari, Kachi Chawani, Gali Narayana,Dogra Hall, Kanak Mandi (Malhotra Street), Sanjay Nagar (Sector 2), Rampura, Nai Basti, Near Narwal Pain, Satwari, Near Carmel Convent School, Kunjwani, Last Morh, Hajipora, Sheikhpura Ward No 48 Bahu, Brahamin Mohalla, Ward No 1, Narwal, Janipur and Bantalab.

The District Magisytrate has also ordered that the designated 19 Mohallas will remain under strict lockdown and tight perimeter control, except for employees of Health and Sanitation staff (public and private). �There shall be no movement, whatsoever, in and out the containment Zone. All Business establishments, except Medical shops shall remain closed in the containment zone till further order,� stated the order.
Meanwhile, 535 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours taking the total number of infected persons to 37,698 even as nine deaths were reported from the union territory during the past 24 hours, officials said.
