BJYM stopped from taking out rally, arrested for violating SOPs

Jammu | 05 Aug 2020

Activists of Bharatiya Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was organizing a motorcycle rally in the city on the occasion of completing one year of the scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, were stopped by police at Dogra Chowk.

The activists were arrested for violating the guidelines issued by the district administration to prevent the spread of corona virus infection. Police seized the two-wheeled vehicles on which workers were on the spot.
SHO Nawabad Deepak Jasrotia was checking the vehicles at Dogra Chowk around 10 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, some youths with tricolor in their hands started marching on the motorbike and raised slogans. The SHO stopped the youths taking out the rally and asked them to return. Instead of going back, the youth started arguing with the police personnel stationed at the block. Meanwhile, the youth started shouting slogans there. In order to handle the situation, the police took all the motorcycles in which the youth were riding. Some youths taking out the rally were taken to Nawabad Police Station.
At the same time, BJP workers accused the police of mistreating them during this time. It may be noted that the district administration has given clear guidelines regarding Kovid-19 that no rally, demonstration or program is allowed. Because such programs do not follow the important rules like physical distance and in such a situation there is a risk of spreading of corona virus infection.
