World Nature Conservation Day is observed each year on July 28th. This day is celebrated Internationally to increase awareness about the best practices to protect our natural resources. The Earth is supplied a limited amount of properties that we all rely upon each day like water, air, soil and trees.

This day recognizes that a healthy environment is the foundation for a stable and productive society and to ensure the well being of present and future generations, we all must participate to protect, conserve and sustainably manage our natural resources.

With problems like Deforestation and Illegal wildlife trade on the rise, Nature Conservation has gone up on the list of priorities for a lot of countries. In India, the increased urbanization has led to issues like lack of wildlife habitat, loss of forest cover and pollution.

The Indian Government has recognized this as a problem and had taken initiative to reverse it.

Below are the 5 initiatives that Indian Government has undertaken to conserve nature.

1. Nagar Van Udyan Scheme
2. Waste Management under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan
3. Project Tiger
4. Mangroves for the Future (MFF)
5. National Wetland Conservation Programme
