Moving with the anti-China sentiments, the Uttar Pradesh government headed by Yogi Adityanath, has imposed a ban on the installation of new China made electricity meters by the state Power Department. The decision comes after the violent clashes between Indian Army and Chinese troops at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on June 15. India lost 20 soldiers in the premeditated attack by the People's Liberation Army. "Installation of Chinese meter has been banned across the state. The details have been sought about orders of Chinese meters and equipment and also contracts of Chinese items awarded in the past one year, an official of the power department said. All India Power Engineers Federation president Shailendra Dubey welcomed UP governments decision saying that the equipment bought from China are cheap, but it is also a fact that the quality is not good. Backing PM Narendra Modis 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, Dubey suggested that the equipment should be bought from public sector company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). Last week, UP Special Task Force (STF) ordered its personnel to delete 52 Chinese apps, including TikTok, Helo, UC News, UC browser, Xender, Club Factory, Wonder camera, Selfie City and others.

Earlier, Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana axed two power sector contracts with Chinese companies. Beijing SPC Environment Protection Tech was awarded contract for the Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station in Yamunanagar, the Shanghai Electric Corp was shortlisted for the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power plant in Hisar. Both the contract have been scrapped.

Maharashtra government has also put on hold three initial investment proposals from Chinese companies. Notably, all three deals were signed at Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 investor virtual meet on June 15, hours before the Galwan clash.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also called for the boycott of Chinese goods.
