In New Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdullah's birth anniversary and Martyrdom Day holidays have been canceled. For a long time, the holiday has not been announced on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, being demanded by the people of Jammu division, but the holiday has been declared on the merger day.

With the cancellation of holidays and the inclusion of a new holiday, politics may get heated in the coming days. With the end of holidays, NC and other opposition parties can agitate.

Released on Friday evening by the Lt. Governor Administration. In this, the holiday has been canceled on the Martyrdom Day of 13 July and Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah's birthday of 5 December.

Also, on October 26, on the merger day, a holiday has been declared. The holiday declared for 2019 was a 28-day holiday across the state. The list released for the new year will have a 27-day holiday. No changes have been made in the holidays of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

But the number of local holidays has come down to eight. Because it was 12 before the Ladakh holidays. There is no change in the restricted holidays also.

Number of holidays reduced to 46

With the removal of local holidays in Ladakh, the total number of holidays now stands at 46. A total of 51 holidays list was released in the year 2019. There were 28 gazetted holidays, four in Kashmir division, three in Jammu division, local-12 and four restricted holidays. The list released for the year 2020 includes 27 gazetted holidays, four from Kashmir division, three from Jammu division, local-04 and four restricted holidays.

As soon as the holiday list was released in the evening, discussions started from Jammu to Kashmir everywhere. Arguments started in social media as well as in opposition. Some praised the decision and some criticized the government's decision.

BJP-Panthers welcome opposition to NC-Congress decision

Some political parties welcomed the Murmu administration's decision regarding holidays, and some drew sharp criticism. BJP and Panthers say that this decision will strengthen nationalist sentiment. Not only Jammu but the people of Kashmir will also be happy. The NC and Congress have accused the government of acting in a spirit of revenge.
