Kashmir reported tenth Covid-19 death on Monday after a man died five days after his youngest son succumbed to the same disease at a Srinagar hospital. So far, 10 persons have died of Covid-19 and 879 have got infected in J&K. A 60-year-old man from the Alamgari Bazar locality of Srinagar, who was suffering from late-stage pancreatic cancer before contracting coronavirus, died at Chest Disease (CD) Hospital this afternoon. His 32-year-old son had also died of Covid on May 6. In J&K, 18 new positive cases have been reported since our last update yesterday six from Jammu and 12 from Kashmir division. Also, a Covid-positive patient died today at CD Hospital, Srinagar. The deceased was previously admitted to Super Specialty Hospital, Shireen Bagh, Srinagar, as a case of late-stage pancreatic cancer. First his son, who was attending him there, tested positive for coronavirus and later he and his son-in-law contracted the virus. At least 44 Covid patients had recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir. Among the fresh 18 cases was a lab technician from south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, it said. Officials said 11 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Kulgam district, three each in Jammu and Kathua and one in Baramulla district. Meanwhile, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Principal Dr Samia Rashid has tested negative for coronavirus after a clerk in her officer tested positive for the virus. A majority of the cases, 802, have been reported from Kashmir, while Jammu has reported 77 cases.
