One more leopard reported, in Chandigarh’s Sector 44

Reports of a leopard seen at the Sector 34/44 dividing road on Monday night led to a scare among the locals. Police said they had received information about a leopard roaming in the area, following which a search is being conducted. Inspector Baldev Kumar, SHO, Sector 34 police station, said an announcement is being made asking people to stay indoors. The search operations were continuing till the reports last came in. Police said the residents are also being asked to check the backyards and lawns. Meanwhile, the UT Forest Department has also been alerted.

On Monday, a leopard was successfully tranquilized after being spotted roaming around in Sector 5 in Chandigarh. After the wild cat was spotted at 8.15 am, Chandigarh Police and the Wildlife department were alerted. The feline was trapped by forest officials after hectic efforts of over five hours and was later let out in the Morni forests.
