School board tells exam candidates to use masks

As coronavirus cases have been reported in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K Board of School Education has advised the candidates appearing in the ongoing Class X, XI and XII annual board examination of the summer zone in the Jammu province to use masks.

“As a precautionary measure against coronavirus, it is hereby notified for all candidates concerned appearing in the ongoing BOSE annual regular 2020 examinations from the Jammu division that they can use masks and carry sanitisers with them to the examination centres, if they so desire,” said a board notification.

“Already the authorities in J&K have shut down all primary schools, including both government and private, in six districts till March 31. It is also important to inform the students appearing in the ongoing annual board exams to take every precautionary measure against the deadly disease which has created panic across the world,” an official said.

A total of 1,225 examination centres have been set up by the board for 1,26,894 students appearing in the examination of the three classes. For Class X exam, a total of 541 centres have been set up for 53,626 candidates. As many as 39,527 candidates will appear in the Class XI board exam at 368 centres, while 33,741 candidates are appearing in the Class XII annual exam at 316 centres.
